Main Available Programs
The RAMQ offers a hearing assistance program for Quebec residents who meet specific eligibility criteria related to hearing loss. For eligible individuals, the cost of hearing aids and covered services may be paid by the public insurance plan.
This federal program is intended for eligible veterans under the Health Care Regulations. It provides coverage for hearing health needs and hearing aids for qualified military personnel and veterans.
This program is designed for workers who have developed hearing impairment related to occupational noise exposure. A claim may be submitted even after retirement, provided that a link to employment is established.
Individuals who have sustained a road accident resulting in hearing loss or damage to a hearing device may be eligible for coverage of their hearing aids through the SAAQ.

How do I know if I am eligible for RAMQ?
Eligibility is determined by the degree of hearing loss measured during an audiogram. For adults, the average hearing loss must be at least 35 dB in the better ear. Your audiologist and audioprosthetist are responsible for informing you once you meet the eligibility criteria.
Can I submit a claim to CNESST if I am retired ?
Yes, absolutely. You may open a file with CNESST at any time, even several years after leaving the workforce. If you were
exposed to occupational noise, you may request recognition of occupational hearing loss.
Do government programs cover two hearing aids ?
Coverage depends on your situation. RAMQ covers two hearing aids for children, students, and workers who require them for their activities. Non-working adults are generally eligible for one device. CNESST and Veterans Affairs Canada may cover two hearing aids when required.
How long does the eligibility process take ?
Timelines vary depending on the program. For RAMQ, once the required documents are obtained, hearing aids can be provided promptly. For CNESST, the process for recognition of occupational hearing loss may take several weeks to several months. We support you throughout the process.
